Friday Theme and Saturday details for away meet at James Creek on 13 July

Thanks to everyone for getting the pool cleaned up and put away before the storm that never came tonight.  To be clear, with the audible thunder in the distance, the pool was closed until 9pm so continuing the meet would have been dark and scary...!  Which leads me to......

The theme for this week is Knights and Princesses! We will be making shields and crowns on Thursday afternoon before practice. Friday pep rally is our last one. There will be fun games involving ladies in distress, dragons and all sorts of courageous deeds.

This Saturday will be our last A dual meet of the season at the James Creek pool in Olney.

James Creek is located at 2800 Lindenwood DRIVE, Olney, MD 20832. (it says Road on the MCSL website) in case some one is using GPS.

Go North on Georgia Ave past Rt. 108.

Make a right on Prince Philip Drive.

Make a left on Lindenwood Drive.  Pool will be on the right.

Parking is very limited in the lot and not allowed on Clovercrest ( where the townhouses are) so carpooling is encouraged by the James Creek folks. Parking will on Lindenwood and I recommend you drop off what and who you can at the pool and find parking.

Weekend Recap and week of 8 July activities

I think everyone, kids, parents and coaches deserve a round of applause for their hard work this weekend.  While the scoring may not be in our favor, the kids are making good progress in the swimming progress and we still have some time to show that progress off in personal bests and HAVING FUN!

There will be morning practice all week and afternoon practice, weather permitting, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.  Friday afternoon will be our last pep rally and dinner at the pool (theme TBA shortly).

This week, on Wednesday, we will host our first B meet of the year with our friends from Manor Woods.  Please make every effort to be at the pool by 5pm so we can get set up and warmed up on time to start the meet at 6:15p.  FOR THIS WEEK ONLY, ALL EVENTS ARE OPEN TO ALL SWIMMERS!  Since we missed our meet with Manor Woods last year AND we have not had a B meet in several weeks, I want to make sure everyone gets to swim the strokes they want to swim.  Plus, I have heard from a few swimmers that they want to swim against their friends from Manor Woods.

Saturday, our meet will be at James Creek in Olney.  Directions and parking information will be sent on that shortly.  Again, I'd ask everyone to prepare to be at the James Creek pool by 8am.

Saturday Recap and Week of 1 July Information

I want to first and foremost congratulate our entire team for a very strong effort on Saturday on a hot morning at West Hillandale.  The times for our team and the results will be posted at the pool tomorrow morning. Let's remember how hot it can get in the sun during the meet at this pool as West Hillandale will host the Divisional championship meet on 20 July.  Lots of shade and plenty of drinks will be needed that day.

This coming week is a chance for all of us to catch our collective breath.  We have made it to the mid point of the season but the best is definitely yet to come.

Practices will be held in the morning and afternoon on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  In addition, we will have practice on Thursday morning but no practice in the afternoon due to July 4th festivities.  Coach Eric and I will talk about what practice, if any, will be held on Friday.  PLEASE PLAN ON COMING TO PRACTICE EVEN IN THE RAIN, WHICH IS PREDICTED ALL WEEK.  WE WILL PRACTICE IN THE RAIN AS LONG THERE IS NO LIGHTNING.  I know this may seem a bit harsh but the kids really do have a good time.

The Pep Rally theme this week will be Knights and Princesses.  Among the festivities will be decorating shields and pennants so be on the lookout for information during this week.  We will have live jousting on Friday afternoon with ponies for kids 12 and under (JUST KIDDING!)  Dinner this week will be potluck so we'll need some new volunteers to cook and serve and I'll bring a cask of mead with tankards to drink from for the adults (AGAIN, JUST KIDDING!)

Saturday, 6 July will be our last home dual meet of the season. We will celebrate our graduating Seniors at half time so you parents out there dig up some really awesome pictures when your Tigers were little cubs and write up what you want to tell everyone about your high schooler!  I need all the swimmers at the pool no later than 745a on Saturday.  Please make sure to sign up for concessions and some of the other home meet jobs on SignUpGenius.  If you have a tent we can use this weekend, I would very much appreciate being able to borrow it.

Sunday Sunday Sunday 7 July WWP will host the Division N Relay Carnival.  I need at least three (3) volunteers starting at 7am to manage parking for this meet.  In addition, the needs of our team for volunteers within the meet is a little bit less than a dual meet so I would ask several of you to make sure and work with Maureen Blassou regarding concessions for that day.  Lastly, we will run a 50/50 that day which we hope will yield some extra funds for the team.  I need 2 volunteers for that function as well.
