Wheaton Woods Tiger Swim Team info for week of July 16th

1.       Wednesday, 18 July B meet vs. Norbeck Hills (17850 MacDuff Ave, Olney 20832) – We are scheduled to swim against Norbeck Hills this coming Wed.  Warmups for our Tigers will start at 5:45p, with a goal of starting the meet no later than 6:30p.  We will combine heats and gender where possible to expedite the meet.  EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO SWIM IN THIS MEET MUST SIGN UP AT THE POOL NO LATER THAN TOMORROW (TUESDAY) MORNING’S PRACTICE!!!!!

2.       Friday night – We are still looking for a host (or another idea in lieu of someone’s house) for the Divisionals dinner.  The pool is not available that evening so if we are going to have dinner (and let our older swimmers prepare their TP for after dark!), we’ll need an alternate location.  I am open to suggestions for something new (maybe a picnic at a local park?) since the plan is to always bring our own food and drink.  Last year, the following was used for the menu and it seems good to me!

8 & Unders: Desserts
9-10 Girls: Mac and Cheese
9-10 Boys: Veggies or Fruit
11-12s: Chicken
13-14 Girls: 12 cans Sierra Mist/Sprite or Lemonade
13-14 Boys: Pack of small bottled water
15-18s: Pizza

3.       Saturday Divisional Championship Meet– I have attached the lineup for the meet on Saturday.  If your child is on this list and cannot swim Saturday, I need to know ASAP and no later than 5pm Tuesday 17 July. We can scratch only 3 swimmers at the meet but can make prelim scratches up until Tuesday with agreement from the other teams.  No changes in events for swimmers in the meet are allowed.  As for volunteers, we are expected to provide our fair share and I will update all of you on the tentative assignments I have provided the other teams so far.

4.       Saturday night Banquet – Thanks to the fine efforts of Shelley Malusky and Alicia Beatley, we have access to the Parkland MS cafeteria from 5-9pm on Saturday, July 21st.  The fee is $183 which I will ask each family to contribute to offset (I’ll do my math tonight so it is evenly divided).  I recommend we commit to using this facility for our banquet (set up starts at 5pm, food and drinks served at 6pm) and find a separate time and day for our team to use the pool with rafts in lieu of swimming before or after the banquet on the 21st.  The menu is still TBA so I am looking for suggestion.
